Purchasing Philosophy/Role

DMAR strives to provide optimum purchased value, quality and performance in our product lines. To meet our objectives, we select suppliers with demonstrated persistence and commitment to excellence.

Purchasing plays a vital role in sustaining the competitiveness, profitability and growth of DMAR.

We are responsible for procuring required goods and services to support operations. Purchased raw materials and parts may be received and managed on an hourly basis. Our machinery and equipment undergo aggressive maintenance schedules and preventive programs. Quality parts and services must be available for the support of these programs.

We uphold fair, consistent and ethical purchasing practices. Our procurement policy supports the formation of long-term relationships, seeking the ultimate objectives of mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual benefit.

Expectations

Suppliers' efforts to consistently meet or exceed our requirements are recognized with increased business opportunities.

We engage suppliers who share our philosophy of continuous improvement. We require constant re-evaluation of products and processes to achieve technological advantages, quality enhancements and cost reduction. We thoroughly investigate problems to determine exact causes and develop countermeasures to prevent their recurrence, and we expect suppliers to do the same.

DMAR operates in an environment of minimal inventories and flexible manufacturing. Successful suppliers operate in a similar manner and can react quickly.

Overall, we must purchase value. Quality, service, delivery, price, location and aggressive technologies compatible with our environment are only a few components of the value we seek. We look to the leaders in manufacturing, distribution and service for our needs.

Source Selection Criteria

These criteria reflect the standards by which our customers measure us. Audit teams representing various disciplines evaluate prospective suppliers. Their primary focus is quality, delivery and capability. Additionally, they consider:

  • Service
  • Cost control

  • Financial stability

  • Innovation
  • Continuity of management and philosophy
  • Employee involvement and training
  • Flexibility
  • Dependability
  • Safety
  • Attitude
  • Customer Commitment
  • Reputation

We continually evaluate suppliers on their quality, delivery and service.

Principles/Diversity Awareness

DMAR conducts purchasing activity with the highest standards of professionalism, endorsing the principles and standards of the Institute for Supply Management. We ensure the confidentiality of our suppliers' shared information and request the same in kind.

Diversity Awareness Program

We believe our supply base should reflect the diversity of businesses, people and locales of a world market. We promote a program of diversity awareness to ensure that business enterprises owned and/or operated by a diverse representation of the population are given full consideration and opportunities to compete for our business.
